Designer Handbags – Designer Purses, Faux Or Real?

In today's fashion world designer handbags and designer purses are as much a part of women's fashion and style as any part of their wardrobe. Designer handbags, purses, and wallets definitely round out your ensemble and give you accent in ways that you can mix and match as well.

Designer handbags, designer purses, and wallets command some very steep prices and that in turn creates a whole separate business environment of faux designer handbags and designer purses. Faux or real is now hard to tell the difference which is which.

Unless money is no object, designer handbags and designer purses can be easily substituted with the knock off brands. I see no difference in going faux than do clothes knock offs from the fashion designers. The prices for the real are so inflated and over priced; it only lends itself to its own competition. I realize this will draw a strong opposition from the fashion world, but if you think about their overpricing of their handbags and designer purses, they are directly responsible for their own dilemma.

There is nothing wrong with pricing your products for their uniqueness but if you over price, you incite a secondary market that can easily duplicate the original product at a much lower price because the cost factor to do so is too easy to accomplish. I understand copyright and patent laws, but there is a level of unreasonable that is a factor that cannot be ignored from a common sense position.

Designer handbags and designer purses or wallets will always be an important part of women's fashion, that's a given, but to try and stop the secondary market of faux designer handbags and designer purses is a futile endeavor. It's a market whereby one drives the other and the need for supply and demand is driven by the cost and desire.

Personally, I have a tendency to notice the color matching value of handbags or purses more so, than actually the real or faux value of what I see. If the handbag or purse compliments the ensemble, then that is the winning combination that the person wearing the grouping has achieved for me.

Faux or real when handbags or purses is discussed, will always draw deep divides in the sand, but that in itself is, by design, pun intended.

Tips for Buying Designer Handbags Online

There some risks to purchasing a quality designer handbag online.  If you follow these tips, you will reduce your risk and ensure that you have positive experience with buying online.Closeup portrait of a happy young woman lying on floor and shopping using credit card

  1. Do some research on the seller. If you find a great brand name designer handbag online, and the price seems to be too good to be true, it just may be a fake.  Check out the reviews for the seller. Spend some time to read reviews from other buyers to see if they had a positive experience dealing with the seller.
Look out for any seller that doesn't have any reviews or has a disproportionate number of negative reviews.  Also, be wary of sellers that claim they got the bag for a gift and want to get rid of it.  That may be the case, but it may also be a scam.  Try to buy from sellers that specialize in designer handbags, have plenty of positive reviews and are willing to answer questions.
  2. Ask questions. Ask some questions about the condition of the handbag.  Ask if the seller has a return policy and have them provide some details about the features of the bag.  A reputable seller will promptly answer any questions and if they stand behind their product, will offer some kind of return policy.
  3. Determine if the image is the actual handbag or a representative picture from the manufacturer's site. This is especially important if the bag is used.  If it is listed as used, or gently used, make sure you can see real pictures of the bag to determine if there are any blemishes or imperfections.  Ask the seller for more details if they do not provide any in the description.
  4. Use a trusted source to pay for your item. Use a service like PayPal to pay for your purchase.  They will moderate any dispute you have with the seller and will refund your money if they find that the seller has misrepresented the facts in the auction.  Also, check with your credit card company to determine if they have policies to refund your purchase price in the case of fraud.
  5. Communicate with the auction host as soon as you suspect fraud. If you're buying a handbag from eBay, their policy requires sellers to properly represent the condition and authenticity of the item.  If you receive something that you believe was misrepresented by the seller, contact eBay and PayPal immediately to file a complaint.  Not only will they do everything they can to get your money back, they will ban that seller from selling fraudulent handbags to others.

If you follow these five tips, you will be able to find the perfect handbag online.  There are great deals to be had out there, so get shopping!

How to Spot A Fake Purse

There are plenty of fake handbags for sale on auction sites, in mall kiosks and at flea markets and outdoor bazaars.  If you want to be sure that your purse is authentic, follow this tips.

  1. Ask the seller.  It may sound obvious, or naive to think that the seller would tell you the truth, but having the seller represent the bag as authentic will provide some protections for you in the future if it turns out to be false.  For example, on eBay, it is against their terms of service to misrepresent the authenticity of the product offered.  If you determine that it is fake and notify eBay, PayPal or your credit card company, you may be able to get your money back.
  2. Look in the description for the word authentic.  As stated above, if the seller represents their item for sale as authentic and it is not, they will lose their account and will no longer be able to sell online.
  3. Look for the small details.  Stitching should be smooth and even on authentic bags.  The logos should be perfectly centered without any defects.  Compare the logos to pictures of the item from the designer's site.  If buying online, you should be able to see details of the bag in the pictures.  If not, ask the seller for some close ups.
  4. Check the sellers reputation.  If you're dealing with a brand new seller with no feedback from other buyers, be warned.  Your risk of not getting what you want increases exponentially.  Look for sellers with positive ratings in their profile.  If the seller looks questionable, move on.  There are plenty of sources for high quality purses.
  5. Use some common sense.  If the price is too good to be true, it probably is.  There's a big difference between a good deal and seller fraud.

By following these tips, you should be able to purchase a quality, authentic handbag online.  Happy hunting!
