How to Spot A Fake Purse
There are plenty of fake handbags for sale on auction sites, in mall kiosks and at flea markets and outdoor bazaars. If you want to be sure that your purse is authentic, follow this tips.
- Ask the seller. It may sound obvious, or naive to think that the seller would tell you the truth, but having the seller represent the bag as authentic will provide some protections for you in the future if it turns out to be false. For example, on eBay, it is against their terms of service to misrepresent the authenticity of the product offered. If you determine that it is fake and notify eBay, PayPal or your credit card company, you may be able to get your money back.
- Look in the description for the word authentic. As stated above, if the seller represents their item for sale as authentic and it is not, they will lose their account and will no longer be able to sell online.
- Look for the small details. Stitching should be smooth and even on authentic bags. The logos should be perfectly centered without any defects. Compare the logos to pictures of the item from the designer's site. If buying online, you should be able to see details of the bag in the pictures. If not, ask the seller for some close ups.
- Check the sellers reputation. If you're dealing with a brand new seller with no feedback from other buyers, be warned. Your risk of not getting what you want increases exponentially. Look for sellers with positive ratings in their profile. If the seller looks questionable, move on. There are plenty of sources for high quality purses.
- Use some common sense. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. There's a big difference between a good deal and seller fraud.
By following these tips, you should be able to purchase a quality, authentic handbag online. Happy hunting!
